The Viraaga Orchestra Players are a collective of exceptionally skilled freelance musicians affiliated with Viraaga Studio Productions, blending a rich tapestry of oriental, Indian, Western, and light music traditions. Renowned for their versatility and commitment to the art of live recording, this ensemble brings a vibrant, genre-fluid soundscape to life, driven by a passion for authenticity and musical storytelling. Currently, the orchestra is deeply involved in Viraaga Studio's newest series of live studio recordings, playing a key role in shaping the label’s signature sound. Each player brings a distinct musical heritage and professional experience, working together seamlessly to realize the studio's artistic vision. These live recordings mark a new chapter in Viraaga's creative journey, and the orchestra stands at its heart, committed to delivering raw, emotionally resonant performances that transcend genres.
The ensemble comprises a diverse group of talented musicians: a flutist skilled in both Indian and Western styles, a dynamic drummer with multi-genre expertise, and a percussionist fluent in tabla, dholak, and other classical Indian rhythms. A sitarist and violinist further enrich the texture with their nuanced string interpretations. Two keyboardists, each proficient in Indian ragas and Western harmonics, add both atmospheric depth and melodic versatility. The rhythm section includes rhythm guitar, bass guitar, and a lead guitarist—each trained in various contemporary and traditional styles, ensuring the orchestra’s sound remains rooted yet exploratory.
